TWO young drivers have caused controversy in Beijing after wrecking an underpass and two luxurious supercars in a spectacular high speed crash.
The accident occurred just two hours before Furious 7 broke records during its launch in China.
Witnesses told local media a Lamborghini and Ferrari were racing in a tunnel near Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium, when the cars collided as they jostled for position.
Following the crash, pictures of the mangled wreck emerged online showing the entire front of the $AU860,000 lime green Lamborghini demolished.

The Ferrari also lost control and received damage to its side and rear.

Both cars caused extensive damage to the guard rail and a 10 metre section of the tunnel wall, leaving debris scattered across road.

Local authorities identified the driver of the Lamborghini as a 21-year-old man from Beijing surnamed, Tang, and the driver of the Ferrari as a 20-year-old man from Changchun surnamed, Yu.

Both men walked away from the crash unscathed, although a female passenger in the Lamborghini was taken to the local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Reports say both men were unemployed college students, which lead to an outage on posting Sina Weibo — China’s version of Twitter.

“Socialism is so good that it allows unemployed people to drive supercars,” one poster said mocking China’s communist rule.

“Were they in a hurry to watch Fast and Furious 7?” another commenter wrote.

The incident is the latest luxury car accident to provoke controversy in the country.

In 2012, the son of a top Communist Party official crashed his Ferrari in Beijing and died at the scene.

Two female passengers in the car were both seriously injured, with one dying as result of her injuries.

The driver’s father was politically sidelined and came under official investigation for corruption.

Both drivers in the current crash were taken into custody on suspicion of reckless driving and are expected to pay for all damages to the tunnel.
